In support of the Department of Homeland Security through the Aviation Cyber Initiative, Idaho National Laboratory (INL) will host the Aviation Cyber Rodeo to engage stakeholders on activities for reducing cyber risk within the aviation ecosystem.

INL – the nation’s nuclear laboratory – has the joint vision of changing the world’s energy future and securing our nation’s critical infrastructure]. Join us for a cyber rodeo roundup on the theme of Cyber-Physical Resilience. The topic of Cyber-Physical Resilience was very recently highlighted nationally with the February 2024 Report to the President - Strategy for Cyber-Physical Resilience: Fortifying Our Critical Infrastructure for a Digital World developed by the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.

Together we’ll explore not only INL’s 75-year nuclear energy history – including its unique ties to the aviation sector – but also how that history led to the lab’s extensive critical infrastructure protection capabilities, the emergence of industrial control systems cybersecurity with the Aurora Generator Test, and the work researchers are doing today to push the limits of cyber-physical security and resilience in preparation for the challenges of the future. Participants will have the opportunity to learn what makes INL’s 890 square-mile footprint – comprised of a cyber-physical infrastructure test range, co-located laboratories, several dedicated test ranges, and available airspace – the premier research park for safe and secure testing – from modeling and simulation to full-scale. •  Cybercore Integration Center: Cyber-Physical labs, Consequence-driven, Cyber-informed Engineering (CCE), Operational Technology Risks Briefing

• Controls Environment Laboratory Resource: Operational technology critical infrastructure research and analysis platforms, including Avionics Cybersecurity Research Test Bed

• Cybersecurity Analysis Center: Cybersecurity training facilities, workforce development trends, and Escape Rooms

• Energy Innovation Laboratory: Critical infrastructure policy context, critical infrastructure risk and dependencies analysis, wireless research and development.

• Critical Infrastructure Test Range Complex: Cyber-Physical test bed facilities to include Electric Grid, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, and Wireless test beds

• Experimental Breeder Reactor: The birthplace of nuclear power (including two aircraft nuclear propulsion prototypes)
